Mission

More than a coffee company

We desire to be a part of what God is doing in Chiang Mai by entering the coffee industry — employing, developing, and investing in our staff and the people closest to us.

Our vision is to see Thai people be transformed, developed, and empowered by the gospel, and in overflow make disciples that make disciples — here in Chiang Mai and beyond.

Why Coffee

The perfect platform

Coffee shops are natural gathering places — neutral spaces where conversations happen, friendships form, and people linger. We leverage this environment intentionally for real relationships while running a legitimate, excellent business.

Thailand has a thriving coffee culture, particularly in Chiang Mai with its growing specialty scene. The local market values quality, relationship, and atmosphere — giving us an ideal entry point to serve well and build trust.

What Drives Us

Faithful. Teachable. Fruitful.

Faithful

We are stewards of everything entrusted to us. We work hard and do excellent work — not for our own gain, but because quality is an act of worship. We show up every day and do the work.

Teachable

We maintain a posture of learning — seeking to grow personally, spiritually, and in every area of life. In partnering together, we commit to growing together. No one has it all figured out.

Fruitful

We position ourselves to bear fruit and embrace a mentality of skilled master builders — eager to upgrade and learn to serve more effectively. We expect excellence, not perfection.

The Network

Six cafes, one mission

1981 Espresso Bar Network currently operates six cafes across Chiang Mai, each one locally led. From our flagship location to our roastery at Matthew 5 Project, every cafe in the network shares the same commitment to quality coffee and genuine community.

We roast all our beans in-house, train our partners in both coffee and leadership, and believe that a good cup of coffee can open the door to something much bigger.
